The Challenge
The primary challenge was to modernize the electrical infrastructure of a major downtown hotel to meet current technology demands and strict ADA codes across hundreds of occupied rooms. The scope required upgrading device density (power/data) and integrating complex systems like motorized draperies and hearing-impaired signaling without damaging high-end finishes or disrupting hotel operations.
The Solution
Legacy executed a comprehensive electrical upgrade across 575+ rooms:
1. Device Modernization: Replaced and relocated over 1,000 outlets (duplex/quad/GFI) and data points to align with new FF&E layouts, including specific power for closet rods and TV walls.
2. Lighting & Mirrors: Installed hardwired illuminated mirrors in bathrooms (modifying vanity circuitry) and upgraded entry sconces and ceiling fixtures throughout.
3. ADA Compliance: Installed fully integrated hearing-impaired doorbell systems with low-voltage transformers and horn/strobe signaling devices in designated rooms.
4. Automation: Provided precise J-box power and controls for new motorized drapery systems.
5. Corridors: Upgraded corridor lighting with new Halo LED downlights and connected power for new bottle fillers.
"Seamless electrical modernization of 575 guestrooms including complex ADA signaling systems."
